This easy-to-make Ramadan Bread is made by Turks, usually during the month of Ramadan for Iftar. You can easily knead the dough without a mixer or a special dough machine. The list of ingredients in this dough recipe can be found in any home.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg white (egg white will be used for the dough, egg Yolk to brush the bread.)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • 4 tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Roasted sesame seeds (optional)
  • Black seeds (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, add water, yeast, and sugar. Mix them together and set your bowl a side until the yeast activates.
  • Once yeast has activated, add flour, salt, egg white, and the 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  • Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes on a floured surface until a ball is formed. it's normal for the dough to be a little sticky. Oil your hands before working with it.
  • Oil a bowl and place the dough ball in there, then cover it with plastic wrap. Keep the dough covered in a warm place for an hour until it has doubled in size.
  • Place the dough on a clean floured surface and knead it with your hands or with a rolling pin until a round or oval shape is formed. Cover your baking dish with baking paper and place the shaped dough in it.
  • Mix 2 tablespoons. of water with 4 tbsps. of flour to form a paste. Dip your fingers or a fork in the paste and go around the edges of the bread to form a nice crust. Then, with the same method, shape the middle of the dough to a baklava or diamond pattern.
  • Cover the bread and let it rest for another hour. It will be rise up and be very puffy.
  • Combine the egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Use your finger very gently to brush the bread with the mixture.
  • Sprinkle the bread with toasted sesame seeds and black seeds.
  • Bake on pre-heated oven on 375F for 15-20 minutes.
