Tender stew meat pressure cooked and then added to fresh fava beans, garlic, and onions to create a delicious Fava bean stew traditionally served over rice with vermicelli.

Stew meat

  • ¼ cup oil
  • 500 grams stew meat
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Fava bean

  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 4 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoon pepper paste
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 cups freshly chopped fava beans
  • salt, and Aleppo pepper to taste
  • 3 cloves garlic finely chopped


Pressure cook stew meat

  • Add ¼ cup of oil to the pressure cooker, add stew meat and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add 2 cups of hot water. Cook on high pressure for 45 minutes. Once cooked, strain the meat from the meat stock.

Cooking Fava beans

  • In a saucepan, add 2 tablespoon of oil, tomato paste, pepper paste, saute for 3 minutes on medium heat until you have a beautiful red vibrant color.
  • Add finely chopped onions, chopped fava beans, salt and Aleppo peppers. Saute for 5 minutes, and then add stew meat and strained meat stock. Cover and cook for 10 minutes until fava beans are soft and cooked
  • saute finely chopped garlic on medium heat for 2-3 minutes; pour it over the stew before serving. Enjoy fava bean stew with vermicelli rice.



If you can't find fresh fava beans use fresh green beans instead.
