They are perfect as finger food in a picnic or as a main meal for lunch or dinner. You can also make chicken burgers with these fritters as patties layered with tomatoes, lettuce, sliced cucumbers, and topped with barbecue sauce.

Why Should You Make Chicken Fritters Recipe?

  • They are delicious. My kids love eating chicken fritters. So, I make them often as snacks for my kids.
  • They cook fast. You can cook these keto chicken fritters in less than an hour. My recipe cooks at 25 minutes tops, 35-40 minutes, including the 15-minutes preparation time.
  • They are convenient. Fritters are hassle-free meals. You do not need any special equipment to cook these. For this recipe, all you need is a pan. You may need an oven if you decide to bake them instead, and that is about it.
  • They have a long storage life. Whether cooked in advance or reheated and served as leftovers, you can store chicken fritters for days in the fridge, and even longer in the freezer. Just make sure to store them properly.

What are Chicken Fritters?

First, let us clarify what fritters are exactly. For starters, the word fritter is Latin in origin, which means “to fry.” And contrary to popular belief, fritters are not just exclusive to fruits. You can make lots of meat fritters mixed with egg, spices, aromatics, and flour if you want.

The recipe I have is mainly keto and gluten-free; however, if you want to make it vegan, you can replace the chicken with vegan-friendly products, such as tofu, ground beans, a mix of flax seed, and chia seeds. You can replace eggs with flax eggs if you are vegan, a mixture of flax seed and water.

Helpful Tips and Information

Best side dishes for this recipe would be salads, cheesy baked veggies, and stir-fried veggies. These low carbohydrates chicken fritters are flexible and pair with many side dishes. If you want something simpler, roasted asparagus, corn, or tomatoes are great options too.'

Serve this dish at birthdays, anniversaries and any holidays. This dish does not really have a season or time for serving. Enjoy it at any time.

If you are not into frying, you can oven bake them. Preheat the oven to 390 degrees F and bake for 14-15 minutes. Flip and cook for another 10-12 minutes or until golden brown on all sides.

This recipe yields 10 fritters and takes about 15 minutes to prepare and around 20-25 minutes to cook.

When you cook these keto chicken fritters, make sure that the oil is hot before placing them in. Otherwise, the fritters will absorb the oil as they cook, making them greasy. Also, avoid overcrowding the pan. It is to make sure that there is even distribution of the heat.

Can I change some of the ingredients?

Of course! We all have our tastes in food. This recipe is very versatile. You can remove or add ingredients as you like to tweak the recipe.

If you have some leftover chickens, you can use them in place of raw chicken. Make sure to shred them properly to avoid chunks and coat them with the seasonings properly.

Can I make it in advance?

You can make these keto chicken fritters in advance, maybe the night before or a few hours before eating them. However, I strongly suggest that you make them on the spot. It is still best to eat these when they are hot and still crunchy.

You need to store them in an airtight container or a Ziploc bag and refrigerate. These keto chicken fritters can last 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator or about 2 months in the freezer.
