A Warm and Cozy Dessert

It is true that chocolate often gets the spotlight, but apple desserts can also steal the show. The combination of cinnamon and juicy apples, topped with a decadent topping or crust and then topped with cool, creamy ice cream has a special magic.

The ingredients in this Easy Apple Cobbler recipe are great all on their own, but they really shine when combined and served warm.

What Is a Cobbler?

In order to make a cobbler, a fruit or savory filling is placed into a sizable baking dish, coated with batter, a biscuit, or a dumpling, and then baked. My recipe uses a cake mix, and butter as the “batter.”

Using cake mix in the โ€œbatterโ€ of this cobbler is a quick and simple way to get a similar to made from scratch cobbler topping without the hassle. I promise it is really a delicious dessert.

Apple Cobbler Vs. Apple Crisp

All apple recipes are delectable, but not all apple desserts are created equal. While a sweet, spiced apple filling is present in both, a cobbler and a crisp’s toppings differ significantly.

Cobblers are topped with a biscuit or cake-like topping while crisps are topped with a streusel topping often made with butter, flour, sugar and sometimes oats. The oats crisp up when baked, hence the name.

One thing they have in common: Both are incredibly delicious!
